Deborah teaches music education at Oakland University where
she and her colleagues envision a constructivist approach to
music learning and teaching.

 

In the undergraduate program, Deborah teaches educational pyschology, elementary general music methods, secondary general music methods, choral methods, coordinates the undergraduate
music education program and supervises student teachers.
 
In the graduate program, Deborah advises Masters Theses and
teaches a variety of summer graduate classes including choral
methods, multicultural music in the elementary general classroom, percussion ensembles in the elementary general music classroom,
music and special needs learners, and musical mapping.
 
Current research interests include the application of constructivist
theory in music education, music listening, and special needs learners.
